Starlene "Star" Davis

Starlene "Star" Winifred (Norris) Davis, 90, of Hagerstown, Maryland, passed from this life on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at Charlotte's Home in Maugansville, Maryland.

Born on July 8, 1923, in Rohrersville, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Hubert and Leila A. (Mullendore) Norris.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry E. Davis.

Star was a graduate from the Boonsboro High School and the Hagerstown Business College.

She retired from both Fairchild Industries and the State of Maryland where she worked at the Health Department in Hagerstown.  Star was also an Avon Representative for many, many years.

She was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Boonsboro, where she was the organist for over 30 years.

The family wishes to extend sincerest appreciation for the loving and compassionate care given to Star by the caregivers at Charlotte's Home in Maugansville, and Gail and Sandy with Hospice of Washington County.

Star is survived by her daughter-in-law, Sharon Davis, of South Carolina; her sister-in-law, Dorothy Norris, of Florida; one granddaughter, Dawn Hager of South Carolina; and one great-granddaughter, Molly Hager.  She will also be deeply missed by her special friends, George and Ann Ashbaugh of Tilghmanton, Maryland, and Darlene Bartlett of St. James Village.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Gregory Davis; and her brother, Reginald Norris.

A graveside funeral ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at St. Mark's Episcopal Church Cemetery, 19313 Lappans Road in Boonsboro.  Rev. Anne O. Weatherholt and Rev. Robert Shatzer will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, March 28, 2014 at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro.
