Stanley (Stan) M. Demich, 86, of Frederick, MD, peacefully entered eternal rest on April 2, 2023, with his family by his side. He was born in Lorain, Ohio, the son of the late Stanley and Mary (Blanish) Demich. He was a graduate of Clearview HS in Lorain, the class of 1954. Stan served our Country in the U.S Army, serving from 1955-1958, stationed in Kyoto, Japan.
In 1997, Stan retired from a 40-yr career with FEMA, settling in Frederick, MD in 1972. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Frederick for 49 years, volunteering on the Board of Trustees and at the food tent at the Great Frederick Fair. He enjoyed playing golf and was an ardent fan of local HS and college sports. He especially loved watching Ohio State football and any sports his grandchildren played.
Stan was the 7th of 11 children, and the first son. Growing up with 8 sisters and 2 brothers, in challenging times, and losing his own father to cancer when he was just 12, had a profound impact on his life. He became a good listener, was generous with his time and resources, was kind, and had a great sense of humor. He was a wonderful brother, son, husband, brother-in-law, father, father-in-law, and neighbor. His favorite role, however, was Grandpa. If you talked with him for any length of time, you would know all about his grandchildren. They loved him so much and were fortunate to have shared a special bond.
He was fortunate enough to have found love twice. He was married to Patricia Demich for 42 years. After her passing, he met and married Dolores Sylvain. They enjoyed 19 years of marriage before his death.
Stan is survived by his wife, Dolores, daughters Tracy (Kevin) Grubb of Frederick, MD and Amy (Sam) Davis of Little River, SC; grandchildren Aaron (Jeana) Davis, Jessica Davis, Adam Grubb, Alex Grubb, and Noah Grubb; great-grandchildren Brynn and Cole Davis. He is also survived by sisters Ann Pasko, Millie Georgeff, Marty Skura, Olga Walski (Dan), Delores Laughlin, brother Mike Demich and sisters-in-law, Becky Demich and Barbara Starling. He is survived by 100 nieces/nephews/grand-nieces and nephews. He leaves behind many lifelong friends including Bob Sheely of Clarles Town, WV. He was also preceded in death by sisters Helen Wilson, Sophie Toth, Betty McIntyre, brother John Demich, and many brothers and sisters-in law.
Please join us as we say a formal goodbye to our husband, Dad, grandfather, and friend. Visitation will be held Saturday, April 22, 2023 from 10-11 a.m, with a Memorial Service following at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 705 W Patrick St., Frederick, MD.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to Hospice of Frederick County, 1 Frederick Health Way, Frederick, MD 21701. A special thank-you to the staff of Frederick Health Hospital and Autumn Lake, Ballenger Creek for the care given to Stan. They are angels on earth.
