Staff Sgt. Travis M. Snyder, USMC, 34, of Barstow, CA., formerly of Kensington, MD died on Monday January 18, 2010.
Born on October 14, 1975 in Fairfax, Virginia.
He is survived by his mother Shelley D. Ellington and husband Daniel G. Ellington and father Milton M. Snyder.
Surviving in addition to his parents is his wife Stephanie Snyder, two children, Madison Snyder age 6 and Ethan Snyder age 2, one sister Jamie D. Hanratty, one half sister Cheryl L.Snyder, one half brother Cody R. Snyder.
He had been at the Marine Corps Logistic Base in Barstow since 2004 and held various positions.
He worked as a tracked vehicle repairer for the Fleet Support Division, where he eventually became maintenance chief. Snyder also held various teaching positions, he led a class on nuclear, biological and chemical war fighting and defense tactics. In 2006, Snyder was an instructor for the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program and helped produce the first group of martial arts trainers from MCLB Barstow.
Visitation: Visitation will be held on Friday January 29, 2010, from 2:00-4:00pm & 7:00-9:00pm at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.
Services: Funeral Services with full Military honors will be held in the funeral home chapel on Saturday January 30, 2010 at 11:00am. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
