Sirrell Weant Sr.

November 6, 1936 — March 7, 2014

Sirrell S. "Skip" Weant Sr.,  77, of Sabillasville, passed away peacefully into his eternal life, surrounded in love by his whole family on Friday March 7, 2014 after a very courageous two year battle with his illness.

Born on November 6, 1936 to the late Scott H. and Clara Mcglaughlin Weant in Emmitsburg, MD.

He was married to his faithful wife Joyce, August 31, 1956 for 57 years.

He retired from Lafarge of Frederick in March of 2000 after 35 years as a concrete truck driver. In his retirement he enjoyed spending time with his family and could be seen enjoying his mowing jobs on his John Deere.

He was a long time member of the Deerfield United Methodist Church in Sabillasville.

He has left behind with their memories three loving sons, Kip, Craig and wife Lisa and Mark and wife Shelly all of Sabillasville. 7 Grandchildren, Brandi, Jesse, Devin, Kylie, Josh, Jesse and James. 1 Greatgrandson Braxton. One sister, Oneida Hogan and one brother Earl Weant both of Thurmont. Two aunts and many nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.

The family wishes to thank our family, Pastor Ray Dudley, our church family and many friends for their support and prayers during the two years of his illness.

The family will receive friends from 3- 5 & 7-9pm on Monday March 10, 2014 at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main Street, Thurmont where Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday March 11, 2014. Pastor Ray Dudley will officate. Interment will be private in Brown Cemetery.

The family request that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to the Deerfield United Methodist Church, 16405 Foxville Deerfield Rd. Sabillasville, MD 21780 or to the Charity of your choice.
