Mrs. Shirley J. Sargent, 78, of Walkersville, MD., passed away Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Lee Sargent.
Born June 19, 1934 in Concord, N.H., she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Doris Chamberlin Hartshorn.
Mrs. Sargent was a member of the Monocacy Valley Church. She loved her job as a crossing guard where she worked for 16+ years. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, plants and flowers. Shirley was a cat lover, especially Smokey and Taffy.
She is survived by her children Michael Sargent and fiancé Pamela Dixon of Koxville, Laurel Marrs and husband Tim of Frederick and Anna Stadtler and husband Jeff of St. Mary’s County, grandchildren Bonnie, Heather, Josh, Peter and Richard and her brother Donald Hartshorn and wife Judith of Concord, NH.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Friday, September 28, from 7-9 pm, where services will be held Saturday, September 29, at 11:00 am, with Pastor Mark Vandermeer officiating.
