Shirley Ann Monninger Lowery, age 69, of 15 Young Ave., Boonsboro, died Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at Washington County Hospital.
Born April 2, 1940 in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Boyd Frederick and Dorothy Madeline Davis Monninger.
Shirley had retired from teaching at Beginning's Day Care in Keedysville after 20 years.
She was a member of New Covenant Fellowship near Fairplay.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Donald Eugene Lowery, whom she married April 22, 1983; eight children, Randy L. Barnhart of Falling Waters, WV, Rick W. Barnhart of Hagerstown, Rodney E. Dill Jr. of Keedysville, Shelly L. Barnhart of Boonsboro, Ronald L. Lowery and Rick Lowery, both of Polk City, Fla., Donald E. Bowers of Boonsboro, and Ricky C. "Bubby" Bowers Jr. of Hagerstown; 20 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and her faithful dog, "Molly."
She was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Monninger.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M. Saturday at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home in Boonsboro. The Rev. Robert Martin will officiate. Private burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Keedysville.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.
