Shirley May King

Shirley King, 83, of Woodsboro, Maryland, passed from this life on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at Autumn Lake Healthcare at Glade Valley in Walkersville, Maryland.

Born on October 15, 1940, in Frederick, MD, she was the daughter of the late Charles Walter Nusbaum and Elva May Nusbaum (Dorsey).

Shirley was with New Market Fire Department and Urbana Fire Department for decades. She was a Commander of the Fire Police for 38 years, and worked at the Hospital and New Market Elementary School in the lunchroom. She worked at Walmart as a greeter also. She was with the Cub Scouts and Explores and received the Silver Beaver Award.

Se is survived by her children, Clifford King, of Woodsboro, Maryland, Nancy and John Jenkins of Luray, Virginia, Myra and Bradley Keefer of Rocky Ridge, Maryland, and Ralph King Jr. She is also survived by six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Ralph King Sr., and her daughter Grace Ann King.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick, Maryland. 

A celebration of Shirley's life journey will take place at 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at the funeral home, Rev. Tim May will officiate.  Interment will follow services at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Frederick, Maryland.
