Mrs. Shirley Ann Dustin, 75, of Middletown, MD, joined her Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at Kline Hospice House in Mt. Airy, MD. She was the wife of Ronald B. Dustin, her husband of 59 ½ years. Born October 14, 1940, in Ellicott City, MD, she was the daughter of the late William and Mary (Martin) Baker.
Shirley was a charter member of Faith Baptist Church. Known for her generous and bubbly personality, genuine care for others, faith in God and a propensity for laughter, Shirley’s main focus in life was supporting her husband and caring for her five children. Her passions included family get-togethers, spoiling her grandkids, bluegrass music and festivals, viewing wildlife and collecting beanie babies (as well as many other knick-knacks). Her smiling face and cheery attitude will be greatly missed by all who knew her, along with her not-so-stealth card playing, “dumb attacks” and abundant baked potato skills.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her 5 children: Cathy Cummings and husband Todd of Lovettsville, VA, Steve Dustin and wife Maureen of Gambrills, MD, Danny Dustin and wife Liz of Colorado Springs, CO, Scott Dustin and Elena Coelho of Middletown, MD (and former daughter-in-law Kelly Bennett), and Donnie Dustin and wife Laura of Fort Collins, CO; along with 14 grandchildren Kelly, Mary, Sarah, Tyler, Jesse, Spencer, Megan, Erin, Matt, Jacob, Hannah, Ryan, Owen and Olivia; 5 great grandchildren Benson, Beau, Caden, Nolan, and Anna (due next month), and sister Linda Reese and husband George. Many nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her siblings Carrie Baker, Effie Osborne, Reece Baker, Ballard Baker, Betty Fowler, Sue Hart and Kenneth Baker.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD, Wednesday July 20, from 2-4 and 6-9 pm. Funeral services will be held at Faith Baptist Church in Knoxville, MD on Thursday, July 21, at 11:00 am, followed by interment at Zion Lutheran Church in Middletown, MD and then reception at Faith Baptist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Baptist Church.
