Shirley Mae (Miller) Babington, 78, of Smithsburg, Maryland passed from this life suddenly on Friday, June 3, 2011 at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, Maryland.
Born on January 31, 1933 in Yarrowsburg, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Alvin L. and Bessie E. (Staubs) Miller.
Shirley was a 1950 graduate of Boonsboro High School.
She was a member of the Brownsville Church of the Brethren in Brownsville, Maryland.
Shirley is survived by her husband of sixty years, Harold E. Babington; her four daughters, Wanda L. Miller of Boonsboro, Maryland, Deborah A. and her husband Mike Gregg of Trego, Maryland, Edwina M. and her husband Dean Beaver of Smithsburg, Maryland, and Tammie Y. Babington of Rohrersville, Maryland; her sister, Betty and her husband, Maurice Payne of Knoxville, Maryland; and six grandchildren, Dennis Barnhouse, Jr., Matthew Barnhouse, Jamie Gregg, Kasie Beaver, Danielle Beaver, and Ashley Edwards. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Jacob Barnhouse, Isabella Gregg, and Aiden Gregg.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Huffer Haws and Jean Haws Mentzer; and five brothers, Earl, John, Lester, Lewis and Gerald Miller.
Family will receive friends beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, June 6, 2011 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, Maryland, with a funeral ceremony starting at 7:00 p.m. The Rev. Larry Nelson will officiate. Final resting place ceremonies will be held privately.
