Sheridan F. Collins

Mr. Sheridan F. Collins, 97 of Frederick, MD, died Saturday, November 29, 2008 at Northampton Manor. He was the husband of the late Clara Tyler Collins.

Born February 1, 1911 in Walkersville, MD, he was the son of the late Frank W. and Caroline Brown Collins.

Mr. Collins was a former member of Jackson United Methodist Church. In earlier years he was employed, for many years, as a private chef for Geraldine Williams and also worked at F.S K. Hotel and Mt. St. Mary's. In later years he did private catering.

He is survived by a son Sheridan Collins, Jr. Of Mt. Union, PA and daughters Yvonne Stanton of Virginia Beach, VA, Alice Ann Buchanan of Frederick and Caroline Hanley and husband James of Virginia Beach, VA There are 38 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons John William and Earl Maynard Collins, two daughters Shirley Loreta Jones and Jane Winfree, a brother Funston Collins and a sister Amelia Harris. Mr. Collins was the last of his immediate family.

Visitation: The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Friday, December 5, from 2 -4 and 7 - 9 p.m.

Services: Services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, December 6, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Sherman Mason officiating.
Interment Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
