Sharon E. Tolley

Sharon E. Tolley, 44, of Mount Airy, died Friday, Aug. 28, 2009, at Frederick Memorial Hospital after a long battle with cancer.

Sharon was born April 4, 1965, in Olney, as the daughter of Joyce and William Tolley. She was married to Wesley Whatman on Dec. 31, 2003.

Sharon's life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by her understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. Her gentle smile and kindness brought so much joy to her family and friends. Sharon gave us all such courage and hope and reminded us of the preciousness of life.

Sharon is survived by her husband, Wesley Whatman; father, William Tolley; brother, David Tolley; sister, Mary Tolley; sister-in-law, Lisa Tolley; nephews, Matthew and William Tolley; niece, Meredith Tolley as well as a host of many relatives and friends.

Services: The family invites relatives and friends to join in a celebration of Sharon's life at Sharon and Wesley's home from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, at 5815 Western View Place, Mount Airy.
