Sharon Cavey

Sharon A. Cavey, 77, of Mount Airy, Maryland, was called home by Our Lord on Monday, April 19, 2021.

Sharon was born on August 12, 1943, in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late Michael Joseph Dinunzio and Rhoda Viola (Warner) Dinunzio.

In May 1963, Sharon married her husband, James Emory Cavey, Jr. in Baltimore, MD.  They moved to Mount Airy in 1969 where they raised their family and lived the rest of their lives.  Sharon and her husband  Jim enjoyed spending time with their family.  For decades they held family gatherings in their home nearly every Sunday.  They enjoyed annual family vacations to Ocean City, MD, Disney World and Universal Studios, as well as treating their family to dinners at their favorite restaurants.  She also loved fishing with her family and watching the Orioles baseball games.

As a teenager Sharon worked at Commercial Credit Bank in Baltimore, MD.  She was a stay-at-home Mom to raise their three children and she later worked at Linganore High School.

She was the loving wife of the late James E. Cavey, Jr., her husband of 52 years.

She was the loving mother of James Michael Cavey of Mt. Airy, MD., Joseph Allen Cavey and wife, Melissa of Fairfield, PA, Kathleen Michele Moser and husband, Denny of Myersville, MD. Sharon was the adoring grandmother of Erica Lynn Bollinger and husband, Zach of Fairfield, PA, Lauren Fares and husband, Andrew of Waynesboro, PA and Abbey Myers and husband, Daniel of Thurmont, MD.  She was the doting great-grandmother of  Kayleigh, Makenzie and Zadie Bollinger all of Fairfield, PA; sister, Carol Elizabeth Hunt of Parkville, MD and brother, Michael William Dinunzio and wife, Betty of Summerville, SC.

In addition to her parents and husband she is preceded in death by her sister, Donna Lee Thomas and brother-in-law, David Hunt.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm  and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at Stauffer Funeral Home , 8 East Ridgeville Blvd., Mt. Airy, MD. 21771.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 2:30 pm on Friday, April 23, 2021, at St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church , 9190 Church Street Libertytown, MD. 21762.  Father Chuck Wible will officiate.  Interment will be at St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church Cemetery.
