Shari Miley

October 1, 1969 — June 8, 2016

Shari Lee Wilson Miley was blessed with many gifts!  Among them were the gift of teaching young children, an enduring faith in God, and a kind and gentle personality that can only be described as “genuine” by anyone who met her.

She loved her family! She was always an engaging partner with a fun and positive spirit. She loved to travel, but when she was home with family and friends, her joy was obvious.  She was also the spiritual and faith leader at home.  She loved reading and she loved Christian praise music.  She had a lifelong love of worship and her time with God gave her comfort, peace, strength, and understanding.

She was a teacher for 25 years, but it was more than a profession; it defined who she was.  Whether teaching 2nd or 3rd graders at Yellow Springs Elementary School or Sunday School at Brook Hill UMC, she had the gift of instruction and cared for her students as if they were her family.  Although she was always patient and kind, she could manage a classroom with the ease of a natural leader.  She had the respect of her students and her colleagues and she often showed her respect by “borrowing” the best ideas of others and making them her own.  She said, “The best ideas are often borrowed.”

Shari died peacefully on June 8, 2016 surrounded in love and prayer by her family and friends, both close and afar.

She is survived by her husband of 21 years, Wendell J. Miley; her daughter, Mikayla B. Miley; her son, Caleb J. Miley; her father, Gary Lee Wilson; her mother, Rev. Dr. Laura Lee Cock Wilson Morgan; her step-mom, Kathy “Nana” Wilson; her sister, Becki L. Enders; brother-in-law, Ritchie Enders; nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. Ralph H. Morgan, step-father, of Littlestown, PA, preceded her in death.

Shari was born on October 1, 1969 in Westminster, Maryland to Rev. Dr. Laura Lee Cock Wilson Morgan and Gary Lee Wilson.  She married the love of her life, Wendell J. Miley, in 1994.

Public Visitation will be held on Monday, June 13th from 6-8 p.m. at Brook Hill  United Methodist Church, 8946 Indian Springs Road, Frederick, MD.  The family asks that you not arrive before 6 pm.
