Shanna Golden

Shanna Kay Golden, 33, of Linthicum Heights, Maryland, passed away on December 10, 2015 at the University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.
Born on August 16, 1982, in Hagerstown, Maryland, she is the daughter of Barinda L. (Hoffman) Golden of Boonsboro, Maryland, and the late John M. Golden.
Shanna graduated from Boonsboro High School in 2000, where she was active in the drama department. She achieved her Bachelor's degree in 2011 from the University of Maryland.
During high school, Shanna worked at the Skycroft Conference Center and after graduation, she was employed at a daycare center in Fort Detrick, Maryland.
Shanna enlisted in the United States Army in May 2006 and she achieved the rank of Sergeant in 2011. During her military career, she was stationed in Birmingham, Alabama; Shoreham, New York; San Antonio, Austin and Round Rock, Texas; and Fort Meade, Maryland. She had completed the Warrior Leader Course, the Battlefield Forensics Course and the Advanced Leader Course. She was awarded three Army Commendation Medals, the Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal with one Campaign Star, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal with M Device,  the Army Service Ribbon,  the Overseas Service Ribbon, and the NATO Medal.
She was a Living Legacy Donor and her family is proud that Shanna has granted life opportunity to others in need.
Shanna enjoyed music, being at the beach, and spending time with her family. She loved kids, and she often was a babysitter for friends and neighbors. Shanna will always be remembered by everyone that she met for her effervescent smile.
In addition to her mother, Shanna is survived by her husband Harry McNally; two sisters, Cheryl A. DeGrange of Boonsboro and Karessa A. Cameron and her husband Keith of Keedysville, Maryland; one brother, John M. Golden, Jr. of Boonsboro; and five nieces, Cassandra, Claudia, Katelyn, Kortney and Alena. She is also survived by her loving dog Lily, and gone before her was her dog Sammy.
A celebration of Shanna's life journey will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2016, beginning at 1:00 pm at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro. Rev. David B. Manley and Rev. Dr. Ray Roberson will be officiating.
