Mrs. Shaleen "Shay" Murphy-Putman, 54, of Mt. Airy died on November 30, 2009 at her mothers home in Catonsville. She was the wife of the late Darrell E. Putman.
Born on July 11, 1955 in Olney, Maryland she was the daughter of Mary Romnosky Murphy Pilot of Catonsville and the late Wallace W. Murphy.
Shay owned and operated her farm "Sundance Equestrian Center" in Mt. Airy. She was the former owner of Sundace Carriage Company. She lived and breathed for her children, family and her farm. She was a NYATT leader. She was a member of Maryland State Quarter Horse Association, Maryland Western Horse Association and Jennings Chapel United Methodist Church, Woodbine.
Surviving in addition to her mother are two daughters Joleen D. and Zoe C. Putman of Mt. Airy. Sister Linda Quesenberry and her husband Larry of Mt. Airy. Brothers Glenn Murphy and Ruth Ruby of Mt. Airy, Brooke Murphy and wife Ann of Brookeville and Donald Murphy and wife Bonnie Ann of Mt. Airy. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her step father Oliver D. Pilot.
Visitation: The family will receive friends on Friday December 4, from 3-5 & 7-9pm at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 East Ridgeville Blvd, Mt. Airy, MD.
Services: Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday December 5, at 11:00am. Her Pastor Brian Shockey will officiate. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Mt. Airy.
