Scott William Knox, 43, of Smithsburg, passed away on Monday, July 3, 2023 at Meritus Medical Center. He was the husband of Jennifer (Chedester) Knox. Born October 23, 1979, in Hagerstown, he was the son of William Wilson Knox and Brenda Sue Knox Burkett.
Scott was a 1998 graduate of Middletown High School. He worked as a materials handler at Werre's Corporation. Scott loved spending time with his family, friends and pets. He especially loved playing with his daughter, Izzy. He loved watching the San Francisco 49ers Football team and the Orioles, and he loved going to Ocean City, MD with his family. Scott had a very deep faith in God and was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church for over 30 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Isabella "Izzy" Knox; his mother, Brenda Knox Burkett and husband David, his father, William Knox and wife Trissy, brothers, Jared Knox and partner Stacy Shafer, Dustin Knox and wife Sarah; nephews Logan Knox, Tate Knox, Bryan Murphy and Cameron Murphy; nieces Lylli Knox, Isla Knox, Alyssa Wilson and Autumn Murphy, as well as a brother-in-law Patrick Murphy. He is also survived by an uncle, Lindy Smith and wife Patty, an aunt, Dana Jordan, his paternal grandmother, Ruby Maddox, mother-in-law, Jill Chedester, and numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, especially his closest friend, Jimmy Rice. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Barbara Kendall Jordan and his father-in-law Jim Chedester.
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 7, 2023 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at 11:00 am at Mt. Zion UMC, 603 Main Street, Myersville, MD 21773, Pastor Chris Bishop officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Operation Underground Railroad at https://ourrescue.org, an organization that fights human trafficking - a cause that Scott cared very deeply about.
