Sarah Sommerville

Sarah Sommerville, 85, of Williamsport Nursing Home and formally of Rohrersville, passed away on December 30, 2018 surrounded by her loving family at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown. She was the wife of the late William J. Sommerville.

Born on October 28, 1933 in Chambersburg, PA, she was the daughter of the Lee and Mabel (Reath) Detrich. She was a C.N.A. at Reeders Memorial Home for 8 years, and was previously employed by London Fog. Sarah enjoyed her large family and loved to tell everyone how blessed she was to be Mamma to so many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-greats too. She enjoyed socializing with her family and friends, collecting lighthouses, and making jewelry. She attended Victory Baptist Church.

She is survived by her children, Vickie Palazzetti and husband John, Virginia Garry, Michael Wesmiller and wife Kim, Larry Wesmiller, William Sommerville and wife MJ, Marie Stover, and Joanna Horine and husband Danny; siblings, Vanette Sensenbaugh, Betty Fox, and Janie Kelly; 18 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by siblings, Harold, William, Melvin, and Nancy Lee Detrich; grandson Collin Sommerville (infant).

The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Monday, January 7, 2019 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home in Boonsboro, MD 21713.

A funeral service will be held at 10am, on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at the funeral home. Rev. Edward J. Wade will officiate. Interment will follow in the Brownsville Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
