Sarah Jane (Hutzell) Morgan, 86, of Frederick, Maryland, passed from this life on Monday, August 18, 2014 at the Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Born on May 11, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Ada (Poffenberger) Hutzell. Her husband, Cecil W. Morgan, preceded her in death on December 23, 1991.
Sarah was a member of The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Frederick, Maryland.
She was formerly employed as a cook by Hood College in Frederick, where she worked for more than forty years.
Sarah enjoyed cooking, reading, and gardening, as well as raising her kids and grandkids.
She is survived by three daughters, Cecillia K. Pennington and Doris K. Angleberger and her husband, Richard, of Frederick, and Patti J. Stevens and her husband, Kenneth Wilson, of Union Bridge, Maryland; one son, Douglas W. Morgan, Sr. and his husband, Ricardo Bairan, of Frederick; her four grandchildren, Stacy, Douglas II, Jennifer, and Clinton; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and her brother-in-law, Tony Morgan of Falling Waters, West Virginia. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Shelva Jean Morgan in 1944; a sister, Margaret Grimm; and her three brothers, Calvin Smith, and Claude and Lawrence Hutzell.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 21, 2014, at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro. Rev. Dr. Terri Driver-Bishop will officiate. Final resting place ceremonies will follow at the Boonsboro Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at the funeral home. For the convenience of family and friends, the funeral home will be open after 12:00 noon on Wednesday.
