Sarah Cooper

Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Cooper, 75, of Germantown, died on Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital, Rockville.

Born on June 18, 1935, in Charleston, SC, she was the daughter of the late Bellis and Lelia Petit Capps. She was a custodian for more than 30 years. Sarah enjoyed dancing, playing bingo and poker, but especially loved going to Charles Town to play the slots with her daughter/co-pilot Donna. She also treasured spending time with her many grandchildren.

Surviving are children: Donna King of Germantown, Mary Bartgis of Hancock, Bobby Lane, Rose Benear and husband Fred, and Jimmy Lane all of Germantown, and David Cooper of Hagerstown; 13 grandchildren: Larry, Amanda, Michael, Barbara, Hope, Lisa, Jessica, Russell, Cecelia, Dawn, David, Jackie and Sabrina; 13 great grandchildren: Josh, Aylissa, Austin, Aden, Steven, Tessa, Tara, Jacob, Nakayla, Makayla, Ashlyn, Somerlyn and Brianna; a great-great grandchild, Jade. Mrs. Cooper will also be remembered by Brenda Carlson, whom she raised as if she were her own daughter; as well as her beloved cats: Panther and Cuddles.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Sunday, May 1, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick where funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, May 2, with Rev. Lloyd Fuss officiating.

Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
