Mrs. Sarah Kent “Sally” Bartgis, 86, died Wednesday 25 July, in Frederick, Maryland. She was the wife of the late Charles F. “Frank” Bartgis.
Born October 26, 1925 in Brookston, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Carroll Wallace and Fern Hanway Kent.
She is survived by Daughters, Jenny Bartgis Himes and Deborah Bartgis of Frederick; Sons, David Bartgis and wife Joanne of Frederick and Michael Bartgis and wife June of Gouverneur, New York. She is also survived by two sisters, Matilda “Tillie” F. Dishong and Patricia K. Plum, of Thurmont. Grandchildren: Dan Bartgis, Sarah Himes, Matt Bartgis, Jimmy Bartgis, Travis Bartgis, Becca Himes, and Jonathan Bartgis. Many nieces, nephews and sister-in-laws also survive. She was preceded in death by Brothers, John Carroll “Jack” Kent, Col. James L. Kent, Wallace Hanway “Buster” Kent, Phil Kent, Seth Thomas Kent, Thad Kent; Sister, Mary Sue Potter.
She was a member of the Rose Hill Garden Club, Gambrill Park Homemakers, FMH Auxiliary, and VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed crafts, gardening, baking, golf, and most importantly her family.
The family will receive friends from 3-6pm on Sunday, 29 July at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Oppossumtown Pike, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 10am on Monday, 30 July, at the funeral home. The Rev. Sally Joyner-Giffin, Harriet Chapel Episcopal Parish, will officiate. Interment will be at the Clustered Spires Cemetery, Frederick, Maryland.
