Sandra Hiteshaw

Mrs. Sandra Lee Hiteshew, 64, passed away with her husband by her side in the early morning hours of December 11th.   Sandy and her husband Greg enjoyed a wonderful marriage of 44 years.   Part of the secret to that longevity was Sandy’s awesomeness.  She was truly a great lady.  She raised five loving and happy children.  Not only raised them but routinely managed to bring all five to the grocery store weekly.  Who can shop with any level of sanity with five small children?  Sandy could.  Sandy was also a great story teller and writer.  She routinely entertained her close group of girlhood friends, “the YaYas” with stories and poems.  She had a knack for looking at the ground and being able to spot a four leaf clover within one minute.  She could also tie a cherry stem with her tongue.  She was a night owl and a voracious reader.  Her love of books was passed on to each of her children.  A true Marylander, she made it clear that we are to tell everyone that “she’d rather be eating hard-shell crabs.”  Perhaps one of her greatest gifts was her ability to connect with small children.  Little ones loved Sandy, not just her adoring grandchildren, but she was able to get a smile out of almost any child.  She was not afraid to break out into song and dance, even in a public place if it meant a giggle.
Sandy loved to travel.  She enjoyed beach vacations every year with the “YaYas.”  She and her husband loved cruising and Vegas.  For her 60th birthday, Greg and the kids surprised her with a trip to Ireland, where the leprechauns scolded her for scavenging so many four leaf clovers.
This funny, sweet, caring, and mostly just plain loving, person will be so missed by many.  Those who she gave her whole heart to include:

Her nieces and nephews: Kevin Langan, Matt Langan, Katie Langan, Ellen Cox, Alicia Skoug, Ryan Cox, Greg Cox, Logan Cox, Shannon Furr, Cori Furr
Her YaYs: Sue Doxen, Lana Nichols, Teena Broadrup, Jeannie Korrell, Dot Hopkins
She is preceded in death by her father Robert “Bru” Slagle, and her Mother and Father in law Phil and Mary Hiteshew and her cousins Keith and Scott Mackley.
We know Sandy is somewhere finally reunited with Jeff the Dog, being covered in kisses.
The family will receive friends at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Saturday, December 15, 2012 from 6-8 PM.
