Knoxville

Sandra (Sandy) Ayres, aged 82, passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2024 at home in Knoxville, MD. Born on May 15, 1942, in Baltimore, MD, Sandy spent her years enriching the lives of those around her with her warm spirit.

Sandy dedicated 14 years of her life working at Farmers & Mechanics Bank at the Frederick Towne Mall in Frederick from 1980 to 1994. She was known for her diligence and kindness towards her colleagues and customers alike.

Sandy graduated from High Point High School in Prince Georges, MD. A lover of life, Sandy was profoundly devoted to her family, always finding joy in spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her home was a hub of warmth and laughter, filled with pitter patter of little feet and loving barks and purrs of her cherished pets.

She leaves behind a loving husband, Carter Ayres, of 64 years; and her daughters, Debbie Hall and Donna Rhodes; along with her son-in-law, Joe Rhodes. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Joshua Powell and his wife, Jessica, Zachary Powell and his wife, Tara, Ashleigh Powell and her partner, Albert Lowe, and Brent Rhodes and his wife, Julie. Sandy was also a proud great-grandmother to thirteen great-grandchildren who affectionately knew her as “G”; Jameson and Juliana Powell, Brooke, Brady, Bailey, and James Powell, Kenzie and Braylen Lowe, Brayden Trupe, and Dominic, Julius, Athena, and Jasper Rhodes.

Sandy was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Hutton.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, November 1, 2024 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1100 North Maple Avenue in Brunswick with Pastor Lana Roberts Windsor officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services on Friday at the funeral Home.
