Mrs. Sandra L. Ashcroft, 65, of Frederick, MD passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward J. Ashcroft.
Born April 9, 1946 in Rockville, MD she was the daughter of the late Archibald A. and Maude L. Stitley Davis.
Mrs. Ashcroft worked as a chef for Marriott prior to retirement. After retirement she went on to work as a baker for Weis Market. Sandra really enjoyed crafts, especially crocheting. She also loved to go dancing in her younger days, cooking, baking and gardening. Sandra was an avid animal lover and any animal to come into her yard was well fed.
She is survived by her four daughters Desiree Gauss of Chambersburg, PA, Valiree Stine and husband David of Hagerstown, MD , Margaret Mary Watts and husband Michael of Frederick and Danielle McClain and husband Brandon of Bella vista, AR; 10 grandchildren; Kelly and Brandon Sensenig, Kellen and Brittany Gauss, Patrick and Christina Hewitt, Andrew Reese, Gloria Elizabeth Mutchler and Corey and Kealie McClain, 14 great-grandchildren; brothers Robert Davis, Sr. and wife Phyllis and John Thomas Davis and wife Barbara; special niece Marie Connelly and husband Earl of Fairfield, PA and other numerous nieces and nephews
She is preceded in death by her brothers Archie Davis and Gerald Davis and her sister Barbara Allen.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick Monday, January 9, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM where a funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 10 at 2PM. The Rev. Tim May will officiate.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Frederick County Humane Society 217 W. Patrick St., Frederick, MD or the American Cancer Society 1393 Progress Way, Suite 908, Eldersburg, MD 21784.
