Mr. Samuel Sam H. Mullen, III, 70 of Thurmont, MD., died Monday, June 30, 2008 at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Barbara Ballinger Mullen his wife of 47 years.
Born December 22, 1937 in Camden, N. J., he was the son of the late Samuel H, II and Ida Lake Mullen.
Mr. Mullen served his country in the U. S. Army. He retired as a computer programmer from I.B.M. and was working part time as an I.T. Specialist for United Health Care. Sam was a Boy Scout leader for many years, a MD 4H All-Star, secretary for the MD Sheep Breeders for over 12 years, coordinated the Breed Display at the MD Sheep and Wool Festival and was a life member of the NRA. He always supported the 4H and F.F.A. Sam always enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his children Sharron Pilson and husband Donald, JR., Timothy Mullen and partner David Hixon and Karren Sowell and husband Alex, two grandchildren Kirra Pilson and fiance Robert Seliga and Konner Sowell and a sister Betty Fuqua and husband William. He will be missed by his beloved scotties Danny and Honey.
