Samuel Smith

Samuel Ezra Smith, 92, of Hagerstown, Maryland, passed from this life on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at Homewood at Williamsport in Maryland. He was the husband of 66 years of the late Audrey Marie (Burger) Smith.

Born on January 8, 1927, in Locust Grove, Maryland, he was the son of Samuel Jacob Smith and Myrtle Estelle (Haupt) Smith. Sam served his country proudly in the United States Naval Forces. Sam worked for Jamison Door Company for 30 years until his retirement.  He enjoyed fishing and crabbing, playing cards and being with his family. He was a member of the American Legion Post 10 and a member of the Wilson Ruritan Club. Samuel was of the Lutheran faith.

He is survived by his children, Samuel Eugene Smith and wife Carolyn, Glenn Lee Smith and his late wife Debbie and Sharon Diane (Smith) Elliott and husband Riggin; six grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, June Latimer.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his great-grandson, Jordan Gilmore and his siblings, Robert Smith and Anna Mae Ryman.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, P.A., 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, MD 21713.

A celebration of Samuel's life journey will take place at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 20, 2019, at the funeral home.
Interment will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery at Locust Grove in  Rohrersville, Maryland.
