Samuel Kipe

Samuel H. Kipe, 73, of Frederick, passed from this life on Friday, December 22, 2017 at his residence.  He was the husband of the late Dale Lea Kipe.  Born on November 29, 1944, in Frederick, he was the son of the late Samuel W. Kipe and Ruth Viola (Hape) Danner.

After high school, Samuel joined the United States National Guard from the late 1960's to mid-70's.  He retired as a driver for Lehigh Cement in Woodsboro.  After his retirement he spent a number of years working the Great Frederick Fair in the Farm and Garden Building.  He was a member of Pomona Grange in Frederick County, earning his 7th Degree, where he served as Master and was also Master of Frederick County Tuscarora Grange.  He also volunteered during the Christmas season for Independence Hose Company with their Christmas Tree drive.

He enjoyed family vacations in Wildwood, NJ.

He is survived by his sisters, Ruth Adkins and husband Harold and Martha Fraley and husband Walter of Arkansas as well as numerous nieces and nephews as well as step-children, Paul Leatherman, III and wife Wendy and Sheila Selzer and step-grandchildren, Michael Selzer, Paul Leatherman, IV and Wally Leatherman.  He will be greatly missed by his beloved cat, Socks.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Wednesday, December 27 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.  A celebration of Samuel's life journey will take place at 2:00 PM on Thursday, December 28 in the chapel of the funeral home, The Rev. Timothy May officiating.  Interment will be at Blue Ridge Cemetery in Thurmont, MD.
