Samuel Fao, 72, of Mount Airy, Maryland, passed from this life on Thursday, October 13, 2022 at Frederick Memorial Hospital in Frederick, MD.
Born on November 10, 1949 in Connellsville, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Patsy Fao and Dorothy (Powell) Fao.
Born during the onset of computers and technology, Samuel was an avid enthusiast of technology, and embraced it throughout his life. While much of these advancements in technology hadn’t even made it into educational systems yet, Samuel took to it like a duck to water. His passion for technology paved the way for his professional career.
Samuel started his career as the Field Service Manager at CGR, where he serviced x-ray equipment for hospitals for several years. He later went on to become Director of Information Technology at Kirkegaard and Perry Laboratories, where he set up and maintained several different systems, from phone systems to computer systems, and network management.
When he wasn’t working, Samuel found enjoyment in electronics, computers, amateur radio, and horseback riding. It was his joy of horseback riding that brought Samuel and Patricia together.
Samuel was a proud member of Calvary United Methodist Church, where he was loved by many. He was quick to find his place at the church, where, through the years, he filled a litany of roles and responsibilities. He served by operating and maintaining the audio/visual equipment systems, served as a sound technician, became a member of the choir, played the organ, and even became a member of the Board of Trustees for the church.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Fao and five children, Levonna, Sean, Fawn (Autumn), Jonathan, and Brittany, and five grandchildren, Nicholas (Gage), Makayla, Dylan, Caleb, and Elizabeth.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM on Sunday, October 16, 2022 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 East Ridgeville Blvd., Mount Airy, MD 21771.
