Sally Jane (Murphy) Ramsburg passed away on May 11, 2014. She was 86 years old. She was born January 15,1928 in Frederick County and was the last of her immediate family. She was the daughter of the late Annie Gertrude and Frank Murphy, Sr. She was the wife of the late Kermit Ramsburg, who passed away in 1987.
Sally is survived by her daughters, Jan Reynolds (Dwight) of Woodsboro, MD and Wanda Fellers (Don) of Merritt Island, FL; four grandchildren, Amanda Hinton (Rusty) of Fayetteville, NC, Adam Fellers (Alyson) of Fayetteville, NC, Jason Fellers (Shelly) of Long Beach, CA and Derek Reynolds (Melissa) of Thurmont, MD; six great grandchildren Justin Reynolds (Esa), Cate, Tyler, and Alex Hinton and Jett and Josephine Fellers and one great-great grandson Greyson Reynolds.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Violet Neal; brother Frank Murphy, Jr. and brother George Ray. She was also preceded in death by several half brothers and sisters.
Sally was a lifetime member of Grace Trinity United Church of Christ. She retired from Hood College after 43 years of dedicated service.
She was a great baker and baked many cakes for many people over the years. Prior to her illness, she loved to read. Sally loved to travel, especially to the mountains of North Carolina and Pauleys Island, South Carolina with her good friends, Bonnie Neuman, Betsy Estilow, and the late Hazael Taylor. She also took trips to visit Wanda in Germany, Mississippi, North Carolina, Virginia, and North Dakota.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 from 6-9pm at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, May 15 at 11am.
Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
