Sadatrius “Sadie” Joppy was born in Washington, DC on February 12, 1964 to Charles Joppy and the late Myra Cunningham West. After four years of battling cancer, Sadie
departed this life on June 29, 2021 surrounded by love and family.
Sadie leaves to cherish her memory two precious daughters, Ieshia Munguia and Aleshia Dorsey; son-in-law, Richard Munguia; father, Charles Joppy; sisters, Natasha Jackson, Mizar Rivers (George), Miessa McKinney (Darryl); half-siblings, Laquetta Clark, Eric Clark (Mae) and Alfago Clark (Yvette); one uncle, Chester Joppy; nieces, nephews, and a host of cousins and friends.
Sadie spent most of her childhood in Gaithersburg and in Rockville. She graduated from Rockville High School in 1983 and furthered her education and graduated with an Associate degree from Montgomery College. Although Sadie had quite the quirky personality, she spent most of her career in the field of security as a patrol, even as an armed guard. When she wasn’t patrolling, you could find her gardening, taking long walks with her dog, or dancing to the music.
Sadie was truly a people person. She always thought about others and had a heart full of compassion. Sadie loved giving gifts to children and doing small things to show her appreciation to those serving our communities. Sadie loved Jesus and always thanked Him for each moment. She was a joyful person, everywhere she went, she made people light up.
