Ruth Eleanor Smith

Ruth Eleanor Smith, of Adamstown, Maryland passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2008 at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Raymond E. Smith, Sr.

Born May 5, 1913 in Adamstown, MD she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Edith Thomas.

She was a member of Adamstown Community Church formerly known as Evangelical Reformed Church.

She retired as a secretary from the Frederick County Board of Education where she worked at Carroll Manor Elementary School.

She enjoyed crafts, crocheting and decorating for the holidays.

She is survived by her four daughters, Betty Charron of Frederick, Patricia Clark of Florida, Carole Warner and husband Dale of Frederick and Peggy Shaver and husband Daniel of Adamstown, MD, a daughter-in-law, Shirley Smith, 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

She will also be remembered by her numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by a son, Raymond E. Smith, Jr., a grandson, Timothy Clark, a sister, Helen Shook and a brother, Joseph Thomas.

Visitation: The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Tuesday, October 7, 2008 from 6:00-8:00.

Services: Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at 11:00AM with Rev. Maxson officiating.

Interment will be held at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
