Mrs. Ruth B. Slocomb, 85, long time resident of Frederick, died on Thursday, October 23, at University of Maryland Hospital, Baltimore.
Born on January 10, 1923, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late George Walter and Edith May Zeone Blome.
Growing up in the Hamilton neighborhood, Ruth was a 1940 graduate of Eastern High School and of Strayer Business College in 1942; and maintained friendships with several classmates for more than 70 years. She was a executive secretary with the office of the U.S. Surgeon General.
Mrs. Slocomb was a faithful member of Faith Reformed Presbyterian Church, PCA in Frederick where she was a contributor to its newsletter, The Beacon, baked bread for communion and was an avid Bible scholar and teacher. She enjoyed stamp collecting, home decorating, cooking, baking and reading; as well a corresponding with her many friends in the U.S., Australia and England.
Surviving are a daughter, Kathryn Ann Slocomb of Santa Rosa, CA ; a sister, Bette S. Winyall and husband Milton of Columbia; nephews: Walter T. Winyall of Damascus, David S. Winyall of Columbia and a niece Ruth E. Marotto of Fairfax, VA.

A celebration of Ruth's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 28, at Faith Reformed Presbyterian Church, 8158 Yellow Springs Road, Frederick with Rev. John F. Armstrong, Jr. officiating
Interment will be private.
