Ruth Blanche Woolwine, 94, of Tuscarora, MD, passed away at home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, September 5, 2017. She was born September 10, 1922 in the Ida section of Luray, VA. She was the daughter of the late John Raymond and Maime Lee (Printz) Miller. She was the wife of the late Jesse B. Woolwine, married 42 years. She was baptized and attended Grace Lutheran Church in Ida, VA. Her family moved from Ida, VA to Barnesville, MD when she was 14 years old. Ruth graduated from Richard Montgomery High School, Rockville, MD in 1942. After she graduated from high school, she worked at Woodward & Lothrop in Washington, DC. After raising her children at home, she worked at Orme’s Restaurant in Gaithersburg, MD. She began her banking career as a bookkeeper at Maryland National Bank. She advanced to teller and head teller at Suburban Trust Bank. She retired from her banking career as branch manager of 18 years at Sovern Bank at the Department of Energy (originally Automatic Energy Commission) Germantown, MD. She was a member of the Upper Montgomery Soroptimist Club. She enjoyed sewing especially making quilts, gardening, flower gardening and spending time with her family.
Surviving are her sons John Woolwine of Tuscarora, MD, and W. Roy Woolwine and wife Janet of Mt. Airy MD, and Son-in-Law Jerry Eyler of Adamstown, MD. She is also survived by 2 sisters, Evelyn Thomas of Germantown, MD and Virginia Woodard of Gaithersburg, MD. Also surviving are three Granddaughters, Pamela Noble and husband Bobby of New Market, MD, Jennifer Peterson and husband Jeremy of Walkersville, MD, and Katie Woolwine of Mt. Airy, MD. Great grandchildren Austin Zimmerman, Hollis Zimmerman and Lauren Noble of New Market, MD, Abigail Peterson and Madison Peterson of Walkersville, MD, and Nick Blevins, Daniel Blevins and Patrick Bensen of Mt. Airy, MD. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She will also be fondly remembered by her grandson in law Kurt Zimmerman and friend Mary White Lok. Besides her husband and parents she was preceded in death by daughter Patricia Eyler, granddaughter Penny Eyler and great granddaughter Phoebe Zimmerman. Also, brothers Carl, Max and Alfred Miller and sisters Alice Binnix and Reba Windsor.
The family will receive friends at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD on Friday, September 8, 2017 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Funeral services will be held at the Stauffer Funeral Home on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 11 am. Pastor Tim Simpson from Greenridge Baptist Church will officiate. Pallbearers will be Austin Zimmerman, Hollis Zimmerman, Jeremy Peterson, Kurt Zimmerman, Denise Vignati-Woodard and Raymond Thomas.
Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery Frederick, MD.
