Ruth Olive (Barney) Strother, 90, of Keedysville, Maryland, passed from this life on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at her son's home in Kernersville, North Carolina.
Born on October 22, 1921, in Jefferson, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late William Edward and Annie Catherine (Everett) Barney. Her husband of 67 years, Charles M. Strother, preceded her in death on February 2, 2009.
She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Ruth is survived by four children; Charles M. Strother, Jr., James Strother, John Strother and his wife JoAn, of Kernersville, and Bonny Stotler and her husband Les, of Keedysville, Maryland; fourteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters, four brothers, and one grandson.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, October 5, 2012 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, Maryland. Elder Raymond H. Woolsey will officiate. Final resting-place ceremonies will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery at San Mar in Boonsboro.
Family will receive friends from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, October 5, 2012 at the funeral home.
