Ruth V. (Leatherman) Ridenour, 87, a resident at Fahrney-Keedy Home & Village, passed from this life on Monday, April 30, 2012.
Born on November 13, 1924, in Middletown, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Harry U. and Vernie Catherine (Schroyer) Leatherman. Her husband of 54 years, Glenn L. Ridenour, preceded her in death on June 14, 2002.
Ruth attended the Middletown Schools and was an employee at Ft. Detrick, retiring in 1987.
She was a member of Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church in Boonsboro.
Ruth enjoyed baking, crafting and gardening. She will be fondly remembered as the lady with the "green thumb" at Fahrney-Keedy Home & Village.
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Joann R. Franklin of Middletown; three grandchildren, Jennifer Morgan, Amy Haupt, and David Fling; and five great grandchildren, Kayla and Brooke Haupt, and Kyle, Grace and Emily Fling.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, John L. Ridenour; her sister, Mary Catherine Budd; her half-brother, H. Millard Leatherman; and her granddaughter Christina A. Fling.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro. Rev. Louis L. Emerick will officiate. Final resting place ceremonies will follow at the Boonsboro Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 4, 2012 at the funeral home.
