Ruth Mills

Ruth Virginia (Hutson) Mills, 89, of Sharpsburg, Maryland, ended this life's journey on Sunday, August 14, 2016, at the Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, Maryland.

Born on August 25, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Vernia Terrance and Nettie Mae (Jamison) Hutson.

Prior to being a full time wife and mother, she worked at WT Grants Department store for 17 years. She dedicated her whole life to her family.

She was an avid Orioles fan and she thought this year would be the year she'd see them in the World Series.

She loved gardening, growing and selling vegetables.

She was a loving and devoted wife to Norman (Gene) Mills for 58 years. A role model and best friend to daughter Jeanie. She will be missed by her feline friend George. Ruth is also survived by nieces and nephews. When she made friends it was a friendship for life and she cherished her bond with Catherine, Geraldine and her sister-in-law, Ruth.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Edward, Harry W. and Charles Lloyd Hutson; sisters, Margaret L. Myers and Anna E. Eichelberger.

A Graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, August 18, 2016, at Mountain View Cemetery in Sharpsburg, Maryland.

The family will receive friends between 6:00 and 8:00 pm on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home in Boonsboro, Maryland.

The family would like to thank Dr. Kelli Strauss and Dr. Iqbal for guiding them through these last five months. Also they would like to recognize the staff at Meritus, Hagerstown Heart, HomeCall and to former caregiver Colleen of Home Instead for the excellent care provided.
