Ruth Flook

August 24, 1920 — March 2, 2017

Ruth Rebecca Delauter Flook, 96, went to be with the Lord on March 2, 2017. She was born on August 24, 1920, in Wolfsville, Md. She was the daughter of the late Charles Elmer and Mary Melinda Hoover Delauter, and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Ruth was married to Gareth Samuel Flook on December 17, 1937. She professed her life to Christ at an early age. She loved working in the church and cherished praising the Lord. She volunteered as a treasurer for the Pleasant Walk Evangelical United Brethren Church in Myersville, MD for many years. She hosted bible studies and prayer meetings in her home. She volunteered at Reeders Nursing Home in Boonsboro, MD.

Ruth loved to read and study her bible, praying for and with others, and spending time with her beloved family. She was a member of New Well Ministry. She was a loving and caring person, devoted wife, mother, and friend, always thinking of others first.

Surviving Ruth is her four children, Marianne R. Huffer, Waynesboro, Pa, Billy G. Flook, Warrenton, Va, Stephen S. Flook and wife, Cathy, Myersville, Md and Chela N. Keller and husband, Joseph, Dover, Oh; 15 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding Ruth in death were her husband Gareth and all nine brothers and sisters, Cecil Delauter, Earl Delauter, Elmer Delauter, Jacob Delauter, Oscar Delauter, Roy Delauter, Marjorie Delauter Martin, Mary Delauter Kline, and Catherine Delauter Harne, and one grandson, Bryon David Huffer.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 11, 2017, at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, Boonsboro, Maryland, with Pastor Jim Smith officiating.

The family will receive friends Friday, March 10, 2017, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Mt. Zion United Methodist Cemetery, Myersville, Md, followed by fellowship at the Myersville Firehall.
