Ruth Barber

Ruth Neva Barber, 68, of Walkersville, MD, passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2018, at her home.  Ruth was born March 9, 1950, in Frederick, MD, the daughter of Lewis Sheridan Barber and Verna Davis Barber.

After graduating from Walkersville High School, Ruth earned an Associate Degree from Frederick Community College.  After that, she studied at Towson University.  She was a member of the Walkersville United Methodist Church.

She enjoyed boating and fishing during yearly family vacations to Canada from 1972 through 1999.  She also traveled to Mexico and Florida, and numerous trips to Bethany Beach, DE and Ocean City, MD.  During the summers, there was always a vegetable garden in her backyard and she looked forward to the continuous supply of fresh tomatoes.  She would also play her piano from time to time.

Ruth fought a mental illness throughout her adult life.  She faced this adversity with determination as she lived with what life had dealt her.

She is survived by a brother, Robert S. Barber and a nephew, Blair S. Barber both of Phoenix, MD.

Services and interment were held at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Woodsboro, MD.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Frederick County Health Department, 350 Montevue Lane, Frederick, MD   21702 in her name.
