Russell W. (Russ) Whitmer, 38, of Point of Rocks, lost his struggle with addiction Friday, January 27, 2017.
Born on July 31, 1978, Russ was the much beloved son of Tim and Barb Whitmer.
Russ graduated from Brunswick H.S. in 1997 and was employed in the bindery department at E.U. Services in Rockville, MD.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his aunt, Mary Peters (Jerry) of Albany, VT, his uncle, Chuck (Sally) Bell of Pasadena, MD.,
aunt, Laurie Whitmer-Via (Ed) of Rockville, MD., cousin, Jake Babcock, uncle, Jim (Terry) Whitmer of Frederick, cousins, Emily Peters-Ruch (Justin) and Sam (Kelly) Peters of VT and Catherine and Charlie Bell of MD. and aunt, Beth Whitmer of Baltimore, MD., and cousin, Katie Whitmer of St. Louis, MO., aunt, Libbi Thompson of Atlantic, VA., and cousins, Michael, Brian and Steve Thompson and Erica Thompson and daughters, Jessica and Chase.
Russ was predeceased by all of his grandparents, his uncles, John R. Whitmer, Charles Thompson and cousin Christopher Thompson.
Russ is lovingly remembered by friends, too numerous to mention, from his childhood growing up in Point of Rocks and friends in the Brunswick/Jefferson area, and his latest family of friends from Right Turn Impact, Eldersburg, MD. who helped him achieve 15 months of sobriety, of which we were all so proud.
A celebration of Russ' life journey will take place at Stauffer's Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike Frederick, MD on Sunday, February 5, 2017 from 12:00-2:00 p.m. Photo's and memories are most welcome. Russ had a soft spot for animals, so time spent at a shelter would be a way to honor him, as well as honoring your sobriety and paying it forward in life. Expression of sympathy may be made at StaufferFuneralHome.com or the Whitmer family at P.O. Box 123, Point of Rocks, MD. 21777.
