Russell Edward Hansen, Sr., 85, of Mount Airy, MD, passed from this life on Friday, December 29, 2017 at the Kline Hospice House in Mount Airy, MD.
Born on February 16, 1932, in Boston, MA, he was the son of Edward Hansen and Gerda (Nielsen) Hansen.
Russell loved spending time with his family. He was passionate about sharing his humor, love of sports, stories about his dog and his appreciation for life with his loved ones. He thoroughly enjoyed the companionship of his loving friend, Jean Gould.
Russell attended Bladensburg High School in Prince George’s County, MD. He retired from Ron Air, Inc. in Dayton, MD.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Jo Lee Hansen. He is survived by daughter, Kristina Theoharis and husband Dennis; daughter, Karen Klem and husband Paul; daughter, Kim Berg and husband George; son, Russell Edward Hansen, Jr. and wife Marilyn and son, Glenn Hansen. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren (Greg, Steven, Kelly, Amber, Russ, Brian, and Matt) and 8 great grandchildren (Josie, Kenzie, Dylan, Connor, Kamryn, Tyson, Reagan and Morgan).
The family will hold a private memorial service to pay tribute to his life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kline Hospice House in Mount Airy, MD.
