Rudell Mullinix

Mr. Rudell A. Mullinix, 89, of Mt. Airy , died on Sunday August 14, 2011 , at Frederick Memorial Hospital . He was the husband of Mary Grace Mullinix for 69 years.

Born on May 2, 1922 , in Mt. Airy , he was the son of the late Augustus and Annie Buxton Mullinix.

Mr. Mullinix loved his family, supporting and following activities of his son and grandchildren, his church, music, gardening and yard work and helping people.

He served in the U. S. Army and was a Radio Serviceman during WWII. He was a certified Teletrician and Radiotrician from National Radio Institute, Washington D.C. He worked as an Electronic Technician at Damascus Electric Co., for 23 years and at Montgomery County Board of Education for 20 years. He was a member of Providence United Methodist Church where he sang in the Choir for 78 years and was Financial Secretary for 32 years.

Also survived by his son Dennis R. Mullinix and wife Roxie of Mt. Airy. Grandchildren; Daniel Mullinix of Weaverville , NC and Richard Mullinix and wife Tricia of Bowie. Great Grandchildren, Latham, Mary Grace and Gavin. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Louise Johnson.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday August 17, from 4-7pm at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 East Ridgeville Blvd , Mt. Airy and on Thursday August 18, at Providence United Methodist Church , 3716 Kemptown Church Road , Monrovia , from 10:00am until time of Funeral Services at 11:00am . The Reverend DD Adams will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

In Lieu of flower contributions should be made to the Providence United Methodist Church .
