Rubye Emily Turner

Mrs. Rubye Emily Turner, 96, of Union Bridge formerly of Broadway VA, passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2009, at Kline Hospice House in Mt. Airy. She was wife of the Herman Turner who died in 1988.

Born on August 4, 1913, in Rockingham County, VA, she was the last of 14 children born to the late Samuel C. and Sarah Emily Campbell Bowers. She was a homemaker who also worked at times outside the home, and was a beloved caregiver to her grandson and great grandson.

Mrs. Turner was a member of St. Luke's United Church of Christ in Timberville, VA. She enjoyed crocheting and quilting with the church ladies.

Surviving with many great memories of love and support are a daughter, Gloria K. Savage of Union Bridge; a grandson, Michael E. Reid and wife Lisa of Union Bridge; a great grandson, Ryan M. Reid and wife Silvia of Chambersburg PA; and 3 great-great grandchildren: Jordan, Samantha and Noah Reid; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Services: The family will receive friends from 12-1 PM on Thursday, October 29, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick where services will begin at 1:00 PM with Rev. Lloyd Fuss officiating.

Interment will take place in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick
