Ruby Watkins

Ruby Louise Watkins, 91, of Walkersville, passed from this life on Friday, January 18 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Luther Watkins, who preceded her in death in 2010. Born on July 6, 1927, in Boyds, she was the daughter of James C. Keith and Ella M (Heisler) Keith.
The youngest of 8 siblings, Mrs. Watkins is the last of her immediate family. She was a 1944 graduate of Poolesville High School. Ruby worked for Army Map Service until she met the love of her life, Luther. She was a stay at home mother to her two children, Darlene and Gary. Mrs. Watkins enjoyed playing Bingo and the occasional trip to Charles Town.
She is survived by a son, Gary Watkins; 5 Grandchildren: William "Randy" Lowery, Christine O'Connor, Scott Lowery, Stacey Carr and Courtney Cutsail; 10 Great-Grandchildren Mackenzie Carr, Ayden Carr, Grayson Cutsail, Michael Lowery, Caleb Lowery, Bailey O'Connor, Trevor O'Connor, Cameron O'Connor, Alyssa Lowery and Devin Hess as well as 2 Great-Great Grandchildren: Lucas Collins and Zachariah Hess. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Darlene Lowery, a daughter-in-law Janice Watkins.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 24 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm January 24 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 40 Fulton Avenue, Walkersville, where a funeral service will immediately follow at 12:00 pm, Rev. Timothy Shatzer will officiate. Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
