Mrs. Ruby Arlene (Cass, Nanny) Darr, 68, of Brunswick died Sunday, May 13, 2018. She was the loving wife of Claude Darr for 32 years.
Born August 3, 1949 in Frederick, she was the 16th of 17 children born to Christain and Virgie (Lamm) Brashears.
Ruby retired from Frederick County Public Schools in 2008 as a custodian at Middletown High School.
She was a member of the Williamsport Redmen Club Tribe #84, the Brunswick Eagles Aerie 1136, and the Burkittsville Ruritan.
Nanny loved spending time with her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, especially her grandson Little Jimmy.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by five children, Jimmy, Barbara (Liston), Ray (Leslie), Timmy (Bobby Jo), and Chad (Ericka); 14 grandchildren, Jimmy, Melissa, Jessica, Jacob, Christopher, Elizabeth, Anthony, Joshua, Brooke, Liston, Barbara Joce, Rachel, Johnathan, and Nikki; nine great-grandchildren, Savanah, Genevieve, Liston V, Lily, Mathias, Thaddeus, Connor, Scarlett, and Easton; five siblings, Shirley Miller, Hazel Masser, Arva Hutzell, Donald Brashears, and Darlene Green; and many nieces and nephews.
Ruby was predeceased by two sons, Petey and Timmy; and siblings, Carroll Brashears, Connie Connor, Mable Mills, Charles Brashears, Richard Brashears, Margie Wiles, Marguerite Fraley, Josephine Smith and Betty Wiles.
A celebration of Ruby's life will begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 2 at Petersville Ruritan Club (at Picnic Woods), 3816 Petersville Rd., Knoxville.
Arrangements are being handled by Stauffer Funeral Home, Brunswick, and Stauffer Crematory, Inc.
