Roy McCoy, Sr.

Roy McCoy, Sr., 80, of Knoxville, Maryland, passed from this life on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at his place of residence, surrounded by family and friends.

Born on September 3, 1933 in Dargan, Maryland, he was the son of the late Robert Leroy and Lillie Irene (Myers) McCoy. Roy is survived by his loving wife, Lois Arlene (Taylor) McCoy.

Roy was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked as a carpenter. His interests included going to flea markets and caring for his many cats and beloved dog, "Luke."

Roy is survived by two daughters, Dana Ebersole and husband, Keith Trumble of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, and Judy Moser of Hagerstown, Maryland; two sons, Roy McCoy, Jr. and wife, Karen of Dargan, Maryland and Tim McCoy and wife, Arleen of Hagerstown; sister, Ruth Myers of Sharpsburg, Maryland; and ten grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Special thanks is given to Hospice of Washington County and nurse, Lynn and to social worker, Clare.

In addition to his parents, Roy is preceded in death by his sister, Jenny Hardey and brother Gerald McCoy.

A funeral ceremony will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, October 14, 2013 at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. Pastor Michael T. Myers will officiate. Final resting place ceremonies will follow at Samples Manor Cemetery in Sharpsburg, Maryland.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Sunday, October 13, 2013 at the funeral home.
