Roy Leon May, Jr., of Boonsboro, MD, passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2024 leaving a legacy filled with love and commitment. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Roy was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Helen (Cline) May; sister, Lorraine Draper; and his daughter-in-law, Karen (Kiser) May. 

He is survived by his son, Douglas C. May; his cherished grandsons, Ryan D. May and Travis C. May and wife, Hannah R. Vargason; and his nieces and nephews, who will always carry his memory in their hearts.

Roy was born on August 15, 1931 to the late Margaret and Roy May, Sr. Roy proudly served in the Korean War and stayed active in the Korean War Veteran’s Association (Antietam Chapter 312), where he made many friendships with fellow servicemen. Roy also dedicated many years of hard work to the Pangborn Corporation and was a founding member of the Washington County Rural Heritage Museum, where he volunteered hours of service and agricultural antiques for display. 

In his downtime, Roy found joy in collecting antiques, woodworking, gardening and mowing. These hobbies brought him happiness and allowed him to share his skills with family and friends, leaving a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. Roy's commitment to his family and his community will be fondly remembered by all. His good humor, strength, and resilience will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro. 

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, December 6th at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 64 South Main Street in Boonsboro with Rev. Karl Muhlbach officiating. Burial will be held at the Boonsboro Cemetery. 

The family invites everyone who knew him to come together to celebrate a life well-lived. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Washington County. 

Roy’s family would like to thank Doey’s House and Hospice nurses for their exceptional care and support.
