Roy Gosnell, Jr.

Roy Roscoe Gosnell Jr., 91, of Walkersville, passed away on January 21, 2013 at the Vindabona Nursing Home, Braddock Heights. He was the husband of Charlotte "Smith" Gosnell.
Born on June 8, 1921 in Frederick he was the son of the late Roy R. Sr. and Helen Crum Gosnell.
Roy was a United States Veteran and served in the U. S. Army during WWII. He was a square dancer and caller for many years. He was an auto body technician for many years. He enjoyed making waffles for his friends and neighbors.
He was a member of the Elks Lodge Frederick # 684, American Legion Woodsboro, Post 282, V.F.W. Post #467, life member Frederick Sertoma Club, AARP # 636 and Grace Rocky Hill Lutheran Church, Woodsboro.
Surviving in addition to his wife are children Judy E. Mason, Roy Roscoe Gosnell III and wife Sandra, Andrew D. Gosnell and wife Allison and Deborah Deardorff and husband Scott. Step children, Judy E. Bennett and husband William and Larry M. Garber and wife Gail. 19 Grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Also remembered by his devoted friends and neighbors Rick and Ann Thompson, Bob and Donna Twentey and Barbara Denn. He will be missed by his beloved cat Buffy. He was preceded in death by his son Eric Gosnell and a sister Octavia C. Zimmeraman.
The family would like to thank the staff at Vindobona Nursing Home for their care of Roy during his time there.
Visitation will be held Friday, January 25, 2013 3:00- 5:00 pm & 7:00 - 9:00 pm at Stauffer Funeral Homes, 40 Fulton Avenue, Walkersville. The family will also receive friends on Saturday January 26, 2013 at Rocky Hill Lutheran Church, 10825 Coppermine Road, Woodsboro from 10:00am until time of services at 11:00am. Pastor Gordon Narvesen will officiate. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2013, 11:00 am. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Grace Rocky Hill Lutheran Church in c/o Mary Ritchie, 11122 Renner Road, Woodsboro, MD 21798.
