Roy Robert Champion 

October 25, 1939 - August 14, 2024  

Roy Robert Champion, Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather & Great- Grandfather passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2024. He passed peacefully at home with his family surrounding him.   

He was greeted in Heaven by his parents, siblings, other family and dear friends. He is survived by his wife, Glyda, three children, Roy (Michelle), Pamela and Kathleen, 4 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.   

Roy honorably retired from the US Navy as a Senior Chief having served in both Korea and the Vietnam War.  

While we lost our beloved husband, dad, gumpa/grandpa, many have lost a friend and loved one. Throughout his life he’s been a rock to many and a master of sarcastic humor, which he passed down to his children and grandchildren. While he loved all of us, he had a special place in his heart for his wife of 57 years, his “Nurse Nightingale.” She was truly his world.   

In all things, he fought the good fight, finished the race and kept the faith.   

Thank you for teaching us the importance of family, faith and country.

As we mourn your passing, we find comfort in knowing where to find sympathy.

Roy's memorial Service will be held from 1-2 PM on Saturday, August 31, at the First Baptist Church of Green Valley, 11402 Ridge Lane, Monrovia, MD 21770.
