Roy Landis "Lanny" Booth ,80 , of Boonsboro, Maryland, passed away on Friday, September 16, 2016, at Meritus Medical Center near Hagerstown, Maryland.
Born on February 6, 1936, he was the son of Nile U. Booth and Mary Frances (Lochard) Booth. His wife, Dorothy Norah (Thacker) Booth preceded him in death in 2005.
He was employed as a barber for Cecil's Coiffures in Hagerstown. Roy was a barber for 64 years.
Roy was a member of Clopper-Michael American Legion Post 10 in Boonsboro, the Red Men Lodge 84 in Williamsport, Maryland and the AMVets....
He enjoyed dancing in his free time.
He is survived by his children, Douglas Booth of Falling Waters, West Virginia, Ann Jordan and husband Eddie of Virginia, Donna Jean Stotler and Dale of Sharpsburg, Maryland, Jackie Russell and husband Donnie of Boonsboro, Bernie Semler and wife Elaine of Hagerstown, Margie Bidle and husband Bob of Boonsboro, Barbara Harrell and husband Ronnie of Sharpsburg; Sixteen grandchildren and twenty nine great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Rickett and husband Raymond of Hagerstown.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Kevin Michael Booth; grandson, Jason Semler brother, Niles Booth; sister, Jeanie Wilhide.
A funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, September 19, 2016, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Boonsboro. The Rev. Darrell L. Layman will officiate. Final resting place ceremonies will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Sunday, September 18, 2016 at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro.
