Rosa Viola (Potter) Best , 88, formerly of Yarrowsburg, Maryland, passed from this life on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at Manor Care Health Services in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.
Born on July 30, 1925 in Samples Manor, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Roy L. and Mary Ellen (Hanes) Potter. Rosa was preceded in death by her husband, Arlington Ray Best, who passed on February 21, 2006.
She worked as a homemaker. In addition, she worked as an Electrician for nine years at Fairchild Aircraft in Hagerstown, Maryland.
Rosa was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda (Best) Kennedy of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania; one foster daughter, Margaret Fraser of Baltimore, Maryland; and one sister, Mary Gray of Florida. She is also survived by one grandchild, Carolee Hajnosz, two great-grandchildren, five foster grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Rosa was preceded in death by her sisters, Mabel Lampel and Beatrice Frailey, and two brothers, Garland L. and Norman L. Potter.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, September 30, 2013 at the Brownsville Church of the Brethren, 1911 Rohrersville Road, Brownsville. Rev. Alan M. Smith will officiate. Final resting place ceremonies will follow at the Brownsville Heights Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, September 29, 2013 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home in Boonsboro.
