Ronald Morris Griffin

Ronald Morris "Ron" Griffin, 71, of Frederick died Friday, July 27, 2018 at Frederick Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Sandra Griffin, whom he married on August 19, 1972.

Born March 19, 1947 in Fairmont, WV, he was the son of the late Dannia Millard Griffin and Helen Mary Tartell, and step-son to Louis Tartell.

Ron graduated from Reynoldsburg High School on June 3, 1965 and enlisted in the United States Navy on November 4, 1965. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War where he served as a Data Systems Technician Second Class on the USS Standley at sea. He was honorably discharged on December 8, 1972.

He worked for over 40 years in project management for domestic and international government contracts involving networking, IT infrastructure, and alternative energy. He retired from Siemens Government Systems on July 31, 2017.

Enjoying his recent retirement, Ron loved traveling with his wife and spending time with his family, especially any of his six grandchildren. He was an expert handyman and woodworking craftsman, an avid reader, movie buff and wine fan. He will be greatly missed.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Phillip Favero and his wife, Wendy, and Jeffrey Griffin and his wife, Rachel; siblings Debra Tartell-Matthews, Robert Tartell and Linda Pugh; grandchildren Tyler, Skyler, Ashley, Krisxan, Griffin and Owen; numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.

Graveside services with military honors will begin at 1 p.m. on Friday, August 3 at West Virginia National Cemetery, 42 Veterans Memorial Lane, Grafton, WV 26354.
